myAltitude - free altimeter for climbing & hiking App Reviews

Seems to be quite accurate in open air when checked against a topo map. It gets the best accuracy (within 10 feet) when you let it sit for a minute at the same location with iPhone back to the sky. In a moving car it went back and forth between 23 meter and 70 meter accuracy, which is acceptable for casual use. There is an occasional bug where it reads way low on the altitude, but restarting the app usually fixed it.

I have used this app from sea level to 11,880 ft. It works as good as it claims. You dont like it, you got what you paid for... Oh thats right, It was free! Mine works just fine, Thanks!

Never got a reading even where wifi and gps is strong. Ready to delete this ap.

While I cant speak for other iPhone models, this app works great on my iPhone 4. Its accuracy compares well with other (paid) apps I use for navigation. As others have said, its best to let the phone stabilize in the given location for a minute for highest accuracy.

Ive gotten three readings from this its useless

I am on a mountain and it said on a sign 8610 ft and this app said the same. It works very well so I dont know why others are disappointed with this wonderful app

It gives you your altitude. It tells you its current margin of error (sometimes 10 meters 50 or 60). Its not perfectly accurate. Its reading jumps up and down a bit, but you get a concept of your altitude.

Downloaded app and it has never worked for me. Tried "Altitude" and it worked much better. Always received a host error and they could never find my location.

My location elevation is 440ft an it reads 564ft

I used this in the mountains and the city and it agreed closely with posted altitudes. It was a little bit slower than CURRENT ALTITUDE FREE (the one with the airplane logo) but has a simpler display, something I appreciate after seeing so many apps with worse graphics than GoDaddy! Other than that either of those two free apps are keepers.

My alt is always Unknown or Unknown!

It wont show my altitude and thats what I bought it for.

Terrible I was in the mountains and it told me I was at 57 feet. TERRIBLE

If you have a problem, its your hardware. My iPhone 4 with iOS 4 has no problem with any GPS/Altitude app. Undoubtedly there are iPhones that may have hardware issues, but the 1-star reviews from their owners are not a fair evaluation of the app itself.

Only 500 feet or so off. Idiots.

I like the app ,but really, adds? I make it a habit of never using any app or purchase any product that uses this format to advertise.

Shows you your altitude. Nice app. Needs more features though.
