Turn your iPhone or iPad into an Altimeter with myAltitude, the free altimeter app.

myAltitude includes an Apple Watch app too, so you can use your iPhones GPS to find your current altitude right from your wrist.

myAltitude uses the GPS within your iPhone to display your current altitude (elevation above sea level) in both meters and feet. It also has a handy sharing feature, and the ability to show you how accurate the current reading is.

On supported iOS 8 devices, such as the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2, myAltitude uses the built-in Barometer to calculate an extremely accurate altitude value.

The perfect free app for climbers, hikers, trekkers, mountaineers and adventurers worldwide.

You can even share your altitude with friends over Facebook, Twitter and more, all from within myAltitude.

Note: this app should not be used for critical purposes, however is ideal for casual use. Please note the reading given by this application is only as accurate as your devices GPS can be.

myAltitude only works on devices with GPS built in (i.e. iPhone, iPad).

If you are having problems getting this app to give you a reading, please check location services are turned on and enabled for this app, WiFi is disconnected, and you are standing in the open air for a more accurate reading.

This app will run and update in the background, where possible, if enabled in the Settings page. However Please Note that Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life

Pros and cons of myAltitude - free altimeter for climbing & hiking app for iPhone and iPad

myAltitude - free altimeter for climbing & hiking app good for

Simple but does the job. Perfect for himing in the mountains!
Sometimes theres a lengthy delay while the phone acquires a lock but, it will display your altitude with reasonable accuracy for A-GPS. Does exactly what it says it does.
Work well and fine for me! Dont know if its better here in canada but really usefull
Works to the ability of the gps, if you get 0 or unknown it means you dont have a gps lock or are in an area with no reception
This app does exactly what it says. Having both feet and meters is a great addition.
Not much to this app but it does seem to work and it allows you to easily share with others.

Some bad moments

Deviation of more than 1000m in Altitude in Yunnan / China. Therefore totally useless
It doest work in Poland :-( it shows 0.00m all the time no matter inside or outside the buildings...
Shows 0.0m, even though I`m on 9`th floor and in a city above water level.
This application doesnt work at all; at see side or at the mountain is the same = 0
The makers of this app must have been drunk, it tells elevation and not altitude.
Im 9000+ ft higher than sea level, yet its saying Im at 0. No numbers show up. Isnt that the point of the app. Good idea. Now lets execute that.
